Effective date: 10 October 2026
Speak English is an app for speaking English out loud. This page says what the app actually handles. The same page covers the iOS app and the Android app.
The app does not ask you to create an account, and it does not publish anything you say.
On this device, the app stores which lessons you have finished, the language and tutor voice you chose, which lessons used the AI tutor today, and a local copy of your subscription status (the plan and when it ends).
The microphone is used so you can speak a lesson or a word. The phone's speech tools turn that speech into text. Those tools belong to the device, and the device maker may process the audio.
When a subscription is active and the lesson is one of the three AI lessons for that day, the recognized sentence is sent to Google's Gemini service so the tutor can write a reply. The app loads its Gemini key from Firebase Remote Config. That key is the app's key, not an account of yours.
Word meanings are stored in the app. Some word pictures are loaded from Wikimedia Commons. Opening a picture contacts Wikimedia.
The app shows ads through Google AdMob. AdMob may use an advertising identifier and similar technical data under Google's own policy.
Purchases are processed by Apple or by Google. The app does not receive your card number.
Speak English is a general-audience app. It is not directed to children under 13, and it shows ads.
The app uses this information to run a lesson, check what you said, speak a reply, remember progress and settings on the device, tell whether a subscription is active, show ads, and load a word picture when one exists.
We do not sell personal information.
The sentence you spoke may be sent to Google Gemini while the AI tutor is on. Ads are served by Google AdMob. Subscriptions are handled by Apple or Google. A word picture may be requested from Wikimedia. Firebase Remote Config delivers the app's Gemini key.
Lesson progress, settings, and the subscription cache stay on the device until you clear the app's data or uninstall it. Uninstalling deletes that local data. A purchase remains on your Apple ID or your Google Play account until you cancel it with that store. We do not run an account server that keeps a profile of you.
Lessons and meanings are in the app. Connections to the tutor, ads, remote config, and pictures use HTTPS. The subscription status on the device is a cache of what the store reports.
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Use the same URL in the app, in App Store Connect, and in Play Console.
